Entsprechend den Empfehlungen des Wissenschaftsrates und des Ministeriums für Kultur und Wissenschaft wurde INTERPLAY gegründet, um klinisch-wissenschaftliche Synergien zu fördern und die Hochschullandschaft in Nordrhein-Westfalen (NRW) zu stärken. Die regional benachbarten Universitäten Aachen, Bochum, Köln, Düsseldorf und Essen haben den regionalen Standort INTERPLAY etabliert, um die Expertise der Kinder- und Jugendmedizin und -psychiatrie mit der Präventions- und Versorgungsforschung auf höchstem Standard zu vereinen.

Ziele von INTERPLAY

- INTERPLAY hat das Ziel, die Entstehungs- und Chronifizierungsmechanismen somatischer und psychischer Krankheiten sowie deren Interaktion in 6 Forschungsschwerpunkten zu entschlüsseln.
- Dazu wird eine VIRTUELLE Plattform als Kommunikationsplattform und eine Akademie für Nachwuchswissenschaftler*innen etabliert.
- Entwicklung einer Risikobewertung für chronische Erkrankungen sowie früher Präventions- und Therapiestrategien.
- Die frühe Förderung der Kinder- und Jugendgesundheit mit direkter Implementierung unserer neuen Strategien im Zusammenspiel zwischen chronischen Erkrankungen und körperlicher und mentaler Entwicklung.
